Meaning
ulli:r = If at all there are
thonda kkulaththil = devotees in the service
irudi:kesan thanakku = of Hrushi:ke:sa, the
controller of senses of all creatures
adhipathi ya:ki = who being the Chief-Controller
anda kulaththukku = of the whole group of
Bramha:nda:s,
eduththu+kkalainda = wiped off
inda+kkulaththai = the groups of wicked
asurar+ ira:kkadarai = belonging to the demons &
devils,
vandu = come,
adi + thozudu = surrender at His Lotus feet,
a:yira na:mam solli = chant the sahasra na:ma of
Lord
thavirindu = give that up,
pandai kulaththai = the class you got with your
birth
“as you have attained the enlightened birth and
became Sri:Vaishnava”,
Enmine: = and now, sing together
palla:ndu = the glory of Lord
pal a:yiraththu a:ndu = for many thousands of
years.
Purport
“One andam comprises 14 worlds like Bhu:h,
Bhuvaha, Suvaha, Mahaha, Janaha, Thapaha and
Sathya towards the top and Athala, Vithala, Suthala,
Rasa:thala, Thala:thala, Maha:thala and Pa:tha:la
towards bottom. The Sun and the Moon are also part
of this.
A cluster of such anda:s is called a Bramha:nda. Our
Lord is the controller of millions of such Bramha:nda:s.
He is the One who completely destroyed the groups
of all ill natured people and the demons who hated
good people and the Lord Himself.
He is called Hrushi:ke:sa because, He is the controller
of senses of all the creatures.
(Hrushi:ka means senses, I:sa means controller).
If you want to be the part of our group that serves
Him, come quickly and worship His lotus feet! Chant
all His thousand names! All the devotees who have
given up worldly relationships (which arise due to
birth), and who have become Sri: Vaishnava:s due
to the relationship with the Supreme Lord, come,
sing His auspiciousness to flourish for thousands and
thousands of years to come.”
One day Mahapu:rna
(Acharya of Sri Ra:ma:nuja)
and his daughter Attulay-
amma, were seated in their
house, when Ra:ma:nuja
happened to enter with his
disciples. Maha:pu:rna at
once got up and prostrated
himself before Ra:ma:nuja.
His daughter asked him how he could do such
an a ct of obeisance to Ra:ma:nuja, who was
his disciple! Maha:pu:rna replied “Those feet
and this head are a match to each other”.
